Childrens' Interactive Western Learning Center
Interactive learning displays and other hands-on activities await visitors of all ages into our wildly popular kids room. Whether you're a young cowpoke looking to try your hand at roping or a young cowgirl wanting to try your hand at hide painting or other crafts, the CFD Old West Museum offers a safe, family friendly environment in which visitors of all ages can learn about our region's western heritage. The kids room remains open daily and is available for party rentals for birthdays.

Kids' Cowboy Festival June 9, 2007
Bring
the whole family to the CFD Old West Museum for the 10th Annual Kids’
Cowboy Festival Saturday, June 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the CFD Old West
Museum. The event features western entertainment and western crafts
including hide painting, branding, quilting, beading, and much, much more.
Children are encouraged to wear western attire and compete in the “Best
Dressed Buckaroo” contest. Sack lunches are recommended. Admission is

Kids' Cowboy Camp June 11 - 15, 2007
Kids have will be able to work with local experts Monday, June 11 through Friday, June 15, learning how to play old fashioned games, make handmade dolls and will receive their own rope to learn trick-roping. They will also write cowboy poetry, enjoy campfire songs during lunch, perform their own Old West Melodrama with a troupe of actors and actresses and line dance with dance experts Linda and Joe Fabian. Supplies are provided. Sack lunches required. Deadline for registration is Thursday, May 31. Kids' Western Art Camp June 18 - 22, 2007
Children (K-6) are invited to participate in a week-long art camp Monday, June 18 – Friday, June 22, 2007, at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum. The camp includes workshops in ceramics, acrylic painting, pencil, sculpture and collage. Students will complete an original work of art in all media. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, June 23 from 1 – 3 p.m. The show will run through Monday, July 9. Registration deadline is Thursday, May 31, 2007. Kids' Western Folk Art Camp August 20-24, 2007
Learn from the masters! The best folk-artists in the region will teach traditional Western crafts and customs: weaving, beading, felt treasurables, leather-tooling, horse-hair hitching, music and much more! Ghosts of the West October 27, 2007
Ghosts of the West come alive! Bring your children to meet historic western characters and learn western history straight from the source. Children can create a treat-bag, scavenge the museum looking for characters and clues, trick or treat, win a prize and listen to ghost stories.
