About the event

Join us on Saturday, June 6, for Family Day at the Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Old West Museum, a free community celebration filled with Western heritage, live performances, hands-on activities, and family fun for all ages!

This year’s “Aloha Vaqueros Edition” celebrates the rich connections between Hawaiian paniolo traditions and the American West, bringing together culture, history, music, and movement throughout the day.

One of the featured highlights of Family Day will be special performances by Bailadores Caballeros, whose vibrant horse dance demonstrations showcase incredible horsemanship, tradition, and cultural artistry. Guests will also enjoy lively cultural dance performances by Mosaico Folklorico & Las Angelitas Unidas, who will not only perform throughout the day but also help teach visitors about traditional dance and movement.

Families can enjoy interactive activities including stick horse races, story times, games, a watermelon eating contest, and hands-on crafts. CHISPA will host a special Vaqueros themed craft table where kids and families can create and learn while celebrating Western and vaquero traditions. Visitors can also try out an obstacle course with Grow Movement and Mindfulness or listen to storytime with the Library!

Give our watermelon or pie eating contest a try or relax in the sand!

Family Day is designed to give families the opportunity to experience the excitement, heritage, and traditions of the American West in a fun, welcoming, and accessible environment. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning for a favorite summer tradition, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
