Aloha Vaqueros
Experience the global story of the cowboy like never before at the Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Old West Museum. Aloha Vaqueros is an international traveling exhibit that brings together the rich traditions of Hawaiian Paniolos, Mexican Vaqueros, and the American Western Cowboy in one powerful, immersive experience.

Through vivid storytelling, historic photographs, and authentic artifacts including saddles, hats, and traditional ranching gear, visitors will journey across cultures and continents to discover how Spanish and Mexican horsemanship shaped Hawaiian ranching traditions and helped define ranching and rodeo culture throughout the American West.

The exhibit also features a unique connection to Cheyenne through Ikua Purdy, the legendary Hawaiian cowboy who won the 1908 World Roping Championship at Cheyenne Frontier Days™. His remarkable story creates a local bridge to this global legacy of skill, grit, and cultural exchange.
Aloha Vaqueros will be presented with both Spanish and English interpretations, offering an inclusive and engaging experience for all visitors.
