Sponsorship Opportunities
Today, the Museum has the opportunity to preserve this important artifact as part of its permanent collection. This acquisition is especially significant as we present a special America 250th exhibit highlighting the five U.S. presidents who have visited Cheyenne and Frontier Park, including President Bush. The truck will serve as a powerful, tangible connection to this moment in history and enhance our broader mission of preserving the American West.
We are seeking $20,000 to support the purchase and transportation of the vehicle from Minnesota to Cheyenne. This one-of-a-kind artifact will complement our existing collection of historic carriages and automobiles while helping us tell a more complete and engaging story for future generations.
2. Preservation of a Historic 1930 Ford Model A Pickup
Funding request: $20,000
The Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Old West Museum has a rare opportunity to acquire a historic 1930 Ford Model A pickup truck with a direct and meaningful connection to Cheyenne Frontier Days™ and Wyoming history.
This vehicle was owned by a Cheyenne resident at the time of President George H. W. Bush’s visit on July 20, 1990. During that visit, President Bush rode in the bed of this very truck as part of a parade along Capitol Avenue, concluding at the Wyoming State Capitol where he delivered the main address of his trip. The visit marked the opening day of Cheyenne Frontier Days™ and coincided with Wyoming’s Centennial celebration.

3. “100 Years of Parades and the Cornerstone Ranches of CFD” Exhibit
Funding request: $25,000
For more than 100 years, the Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Parade has carried the spirit of the American West through the heart of Cheyenne—celebrating western heritage, horsemanship, and community pride. What began as a bold expression of frontier identity has grown into a treasured tradition connecting generations through the sights, sounds, and stories of the Old West.

This exhibit honors the people and partnerships behind the pageantry. The Parade Committee and thousands of dedicated volunteers have shaped the parade for over a century—designing floats, coordinating riders, preserving traditions, and ensuring that each July the community comes together in celebration. Their often unseen work forms the backbone of this enduring legacy.

Central to this story are six cornerstone ranching families—Hirsig, Merritt, Irwin, Lummis, Whitaker, and Vandehei—whose leadership and livestock helped define the visual and cultural identity of Cheyenne Frontier Days™. Their multigenerational involvement reflects the resilience, stewardship, and pride of Wyoming’s ranching heritage.

This story is also inseparable from the legacy of the Union Pacific Railroad. From its earliest days, the railroad helped bring thousands of visitors to Cheyenne Frontier Days™, including through the historic Frontier Days Special train. Its partnership with CFD reflects the powerful connection between rail and ranch in shaping the American West.

Through photographs, artifacts, oral histories, and immersive displays, this exhibit will bring together the people, traditions, and partnerships that have sustained Cheyenne Frontier Days™ for over a century. It is a tribute to community, a celebration of shared history, and a living story that continues to ride forward.
Thank you for your Support!
