Julie Bender

Traveling the western U.S. region with its diverse array of landscapes and animals gives Julie Bender immense inspiration for her art. The high country, prairies, ranches, and national parks lend witness to hundreds of animal species to gather dramatic reference for her art. Witnessing rare moments when subjects display a particular behavior or scene that they have never seen before compels Julie to express that story through her medium. Pyrography, the art of “Painting with heat” involves both accidental and calculated risks. Discovering innovative ways to express her artistic vision, including the use of acrylic paints, is her greatest challenge and reward. Julie's career includes international sales, museum acquisitions, top gallery representation, teaching, publication features, multiple juried shows, and artist society awards.
