Will Ersland
“The great constant in all of my art is the horse. From Western Art to Sporting Art, the paintings are always horse-related from Rodeo to Polo.”
His Western Paintings were featured for fifteen years in the Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Old West Museum Western Spirit Art Show, winning “Best in Show” in 2018, “Best Acrylic” in 2016 and 2012 and “Best Miniature” in 2013. Will took home a Best of the West Blue Ribbon and a Best of the Wild Horse 2nd place Ribbon in the Rock Springs Wild Horse Art Show in 2011.
In 2020 Will was selected to be an artist in the Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Western Art Show, following it up by showing again in 2021, ’22, ’23 and 2024, with works for the 45th Annual CFD Show in 2025.
His work has also been exhibited at March in Montana, and 10 years in The Mountain Oyster Art Show in Tucson, AZ.
Will is a Signature Member in the Academy of American Equine Art, exhibiting in their group shows in South Carolina, Virginia and Kentucky. Winning “The Sporting Art Award” in 2019, and “Best Western Art in 2022” followed by “The Sporting Art Award in 2023”
“My love for Western Art is rooted in a deep abiding love of horses, riding and American History.”
An avid horse owner and rider, Will has experienced the thrill of fox hunting from fast horseback, but these days prefers the slower thrill of trail riding and training his big sport horse Ike. All this riding experience has made him an informed artist on the ways and feel of the horse.
