Don Weller's love for cowboys began at a young age, inspired by Western movies and his experiences horseback riding, roping, and competing on cutting horses. This passion led him on a lifelong journey to capture the essence of the American West through his paintings and drawings. His work has been compiled in a book titled "Don Weller Tracks, A Visual Memoir", which has been recognized with the Western Heritage Award from The National Cowboy Museum in Oklahoma City. Weller's artistic accomplishments also include receiving an honorary doctorate from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, which was an unexpected surprise for him. His artwork has been exhibited in numerous shows and galleries, including the Coors Western Art Exhibit & Sale in Denver, CO, the Cowboy Artists of America Sale in Phoenix, AZ, and the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.
